1. Information we collect
The information we collect depends on the features you use and whether you use a guest profile or create an account.
- Account information, such as your email address, sign-in provider, account identifier, and authentication records.
- Profile and nutrition information you provide, including age or birth date, sex, height, weight, activity level, nutrition goals, dietary preferences, allergens, unit system, and menu region.
- Content and activity, including saved meals, active meal items, shared meals, restaurant votes, searches, feature interactions, support requests, and subscription status.
- Approximate or precise device location when you choose a nearby-restaurant feature and grant location permission.
- Device, diagnostics, attribution, advertising, and usage information, such as device type, operating system, app version, identifiers, campaign information, events, error details, and session-replay data where enabled.
- Push-notification tokens and notification interaction information when notifications are enabled.
2. Apple Health, Health Connect, and nutrition data
If you choose to connect Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, CalorieCap requests read access to dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates, total fat, fiber, sodium, and sugar. We use those totals to estimate what remains in your daily nutrition plan and personalize meal suggestions.
Connecting a health platform is optional. You can change access at any time in Apple Health, Health Connect, or your device settings. CalorieCap does not write restaurant meals or nutrition back to either platform. Health information obtained through Apple Health or Health Connect is processed on your device and is not disclosed or used for advertising, marketing, profiling, analytics, sale, or rental.
3. How we use information
- Provide, personalize, maintain, and secure CalorieCap.
- Calculate goals and recommend restaurant meals that match your nutrition and dietary preferences.
- Find supported restaurants near you when requested.
- Save and synchronize account data, meals, settings, subscriptions, and restaurant requests.
- Send service messages and notifications you have permitted.
- Measure performance, diagnose failures, understand acquisition campaigns, prevent abuse, and improve the product.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
4. Location information
CalorieCap accesses location only after you grant device permission and request a nearby search. Coordinates may be sent to a restaurant-location search provider to identify supported restaurants and calculate nearby results. You can use supported menus without enabling location and revoke permission in device settings.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We use vendors to operate and improve CalorieCap. Depending on the feature and platform, these may include:
- Google Firebase for authentication, cloud data, functions, analytics, storage, and messaging.
- PostHog for product analytics and session replay.
- AppsFlyer and Apple Search Ads for install attribution and campaign measurement.
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google Play for subscriptions, purchases, and eligibility information.
- Google Mobile Ads and related advertising services where ads are shown.
- Location and restaurant-data providers used to return nearby restaurant results.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and for the services they provide to us. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.
6. Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Optional calorie search reporting is off by default. If you enable "Share calorie search ranges" in App Settings, we send broad calorie ranges from limits you enter, the search screen, and grouped result availability to PostHog to improve meal search. These events are linked to your account; they are not anonymous. Automatic suggestions and searches using synced health information are excluded. We do not use these ranges for advertising or share them with restaurants. You can stop future collection for this account on this device in App Settings; this does not automatically delete previously collected data, which can be addressed through a privacy request.
CalorieCap uses analytics and attribution tools to understand app usage, reliability, and marketing performance. Product analytics may include account or device identifiers and profile properties such as age, sex, height, weight, unit system, and subscription status. Session replay may record how screens are displayed and used; touch autocapture is disabled in the current app configuration.
CalorieCap does not sell or rent personal information for monetary compensation and does not provide personal information to data brokers. Some disclosures of device or activity information to analytics, attribution, or advertising providers may be considered “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a “sale” under certain privacy laws, even when no money changes hands. Where required, we provide applicable consent or opt-out controls. On iOS, you can respond to Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt and change that choice in device settings.
7. Storage and retention
The search limit attached to an active meal may be stored on your device so it survives an app restart. It records the limit used for that meal, not your current remaining daily calories. Personal search limits are excluded from cloud meal records and shared-meal links; they do not transfer to another device.
Some preferences and guest information are stored locally on your device. Account information and cloud-enabled features are stored through our service providers. We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain legitimate business and security records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and may continue for a limited period in backups.
8. Your choices and rights
- Update profile, nutrition, allergen, region, appearance, and related settings in the app.
- Manage location, health, notification, and tracking permissions through your device settings.
- Delete your CalorieCap account and associated personal data from the Account screen. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription.
- Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or other rights available where you live by contacting us.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. You may also appeal a denied request or use an authorized agent where applicable law provides those rights.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
11. Children
CalorieCap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CalorieCap changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required by law or when changes are material. Before using personal information in a materially different way, we will provide notice and obtain consent or provide opt-out choices where required by applicable law.
